Welcome to the Willow Crossing Railroad. This is a fictitious railroad located in my house. The name “Willow Crossing” came from a railroad crossing located on Route 15 in Johnson Vermont. Actually, there is nothing but farmland there. The train tracks that cross the highway have not been used in years. It was a part of the St. J & LC railroad at one time.
I just found a great way to make streets for HO scale layouts. I had a double-sided craft cutting sheet with the angles and measurement on it. The sheets are 1/16″ thick so it is the correct thickness for a street. Streets are around 3 inches in HO scale, so I used the measurements imprinted on the sheet to cut a section out. After cutting the sheet I painted it concrete color, however if I was going to do pavement, I would have painted it black. After the paint dried, I added the center lines and outside edge lines. It’s flexible enough to use even on slight grades.
I will not be updating this website for a while because I’m working on the train room and not the layout. Once the train room is updated I will be updating the layout and plan to post pictures during the process.
