I have been allowed back in Give Kids The World to work on the train layout. It has been closed since April because of the Coronavirus. I was able to install the oil rig diorama but have to finish wiring it up. Next Tuesday I plan to go back and finish the install as well as doing some cleaning. At some point I want to remove the night lights from the old computer and install it on a Arduino microprocessor system. The old computer is in the process of dying.

I am still working on the Oil Platform even though GKTW is closed. I will install it when we are allowed back in. I decided just the oil pump was not enough for a diarama so I have purchased a backyard scene where a family is sitting around a bar-b-que. A dog is stealing some of the meat off the grill also. I decided the dog should be animated so I added some machanics to it to make the dog move away from the bar-b-que. The dog actually moves back and forth looking like he is taking the meat.

Once it was disassembled I realized the base will not work as its not deep enough. I created a new base from wood. I installed the drilling tower the oil bubble and the fake motor as it had been on the base that came with it. Since the pump did not work I decided to purchase a new pump from Walther’s and installed that using the motor to power it. Once all that was done I mounted the wood base onto a 1/2″ Gatorfoam board to make the diorama. At a train show I was able to pick up a oil transport truck and a stake body truck to add to the diorama. I made a platform and added a storage tank in which a pipe from the oil bubble is attached. The truck will back under the platform and piping will allow it to be filled. Here is a picture of the diorama so far.

I purchased a Lionel oil rig at a train show to install at Give Kids The World. The problem is it does not work well so I decided to disassemble it and create a new diorama.
