Next is installing the store on the Give Kids The World trian layout. For the train to work I hook up a pushbutton for the guest to push which will activate a timer and start the train running. The timer keeps it running long enough for the guest to see it then shuts off. The button needs to be pushed again for it to run.

Time to start adding the interior now that the exterior is painted and dried. I glue all the walls together and add floors using styrene sheets. The base floor is Gatorfoam painted and includes a section for the sidewalk. I install the train turntable and the background shelves from the toy shop I purchased. I also add people inside in addition to some model toys I was able to purchase. Next is adding the ceiling/second floor which contains the lights to light up the toy shop when activated. Lastly I add some people outside the shop looking in.
As you can see I used some background walls to surround the train. I found out however they hide the rest of the shop and had to remove them. I want the interior of the store to show the toys on the wall and people inside.

The toy Store is making progress. I disassembled the shop I purchased to use the mechanical parts for my display. The shop comes with a train on a turntable going around. It also has walls of cardboard with printed pictures of and interior toy store which will be used in the background. The shop does have lights and sound, however I will not be using the sound. This is what the interior looks like.

After the walls are painted the brick color and the mortar joints are painted white, I paint the window frames white then add the glazing and shades. The display windows do not have shades in order to see the interior.

I spray painted the walls first with a base coat of oxide. This creates the color for the bricks. Once that is dry I add a wash of watered down white paint wiping off the excess and leaving the paint in the mortar joints.

I saw a toy shop display in the store and decided it would make a good feature for the Give Kids The World train layout. this is a picture of the shop I purchased for the parts.
Once I had the mechanism I purchased building parts from Colorado Models. The first thing to do once I received them was to spray paint them a flat base color.
